The Road Department will chip seal the following roads starting Sept. 16 through 30 in and around Doña Ana, in the County's District 5.

The roads scheduled for repairs are Del Rey Blvd. La Reina Road, Shalem Colony Trail and Cox Lane.

All roads will remain open throughout the maintenance work schedule and traffic will be reduced to a single lane.

Chip seal is heated asphalt liquid sprayed on the road's surface, followed by small chips. Chip sealing helps extend the life of asphalt by protecting the pavement from the effects of sun and water, increasing skid resistance and filling small cracks and other surface defects.

Motorists are encouraged to reduce their speed around maintenance areas, pay attention to signs and follow the guidance of road traffic control staff. The County appreciates residents' courtesy on the road and patience while repairs are completed.
